Challenge Quilt

Every year members are presented with a challenge, usually in the form of a piece of fabric and a few instructions or guidelines. Past challenges have included completing an unfinished project, creating a bag using recycled materials, and an ice cream challenge. It’s always exciting to see the creativity of the members on display and picking out a favorite often proves to be the real challenge.

2025 Challenge: Spool Souffle

a free pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop

Go to the Fat Quarter Shop to download the Spool Souffle Quilt pattern. (While you’re there, look around their web site at all they offer: fabric, kits, patterns!)

Follow the pattern directions, make as many spools as you’d like and create any size finished project you’d like, from a placemat, a tote bag, a wall hanging, to a full sized quilt, or anything in between.  Group projects are allowed.

Due date: October 23, 2025, at the October guild meeting.  Bring your completed project in an anonymous paper bag and deliver to one of the Challenge Quilt Co-Chairs.  All the entries will be displayed so we can enjoy the creativity and variety of projects all using the same pattern.  To wrap up the challenge with a fun twist, guild members will try to guess who made which project.
